Each year, 25 young adults and B&B alums pedal to support affordable housing in several eastern cities, including Bike & Build’s hometown of Philadelphia. In 2013, Bike & Build is proud to extend our outreach beyond our Philly affordable housing partners and directly to individuals from underserved backgrounds who have lived the housing crisis.
The Capital Ride Scholarship will engage a young adult from a Philadelphia low-income neighborhood in The Capital Ride. Check out the program details here.
We’re challenging our alumni base to support one of your fellow riders. Will you help us raise $1,000 to purchase the rider’s new Giant Defy bike and supplementary gear?
There are other ways for alumni to be involved as well, especially if you are located in or near Philadelphia. Our scholarship recipient will complete “Bike & Build Equity” to build their ownership in the trip beyond the fundraising support they’ll receive. We’d love for our alumni base to join group training rides, build days, and fundraising/awareness events in the city.
